Jungle Bay’s two signature yoga studios feature rustic luxury stoned walls, polished hardwood floors, large windows and a 14’ foot ceilings that overlook the Caribbean Sea. The spaces offer both a dramatic view and ideal space to practice.

We will be hiking in the beautiful island of Dominica known as “The Nature Island of the Caribbean” due to its lush scenery and varied flora and fauna.
Dominica is largely covered by rainforest and is home to the world’s second-largest hot spring, Boiling Lake. It is mostly volcanic and has few beaches; therefore, tourism has developed more slowly than on neighboring islands. Nevertheless, Dominica’s mountains, rainforests, freshwater lakes, hot springs, waterfalls, and diving spots make it an attractive eco-tourism destination.

PARTICIPANTS
We welcome people from around the globe – men, women, couples, friends, solo travelers, families. The more internationally and culturally diverse we are – the more our world is opened!
On our retreat we strive to perfect the balance between personal time and group connection.
Most flights are via Douglas Charles Airport (DOM), located on the north east of the island, which is approximately one hour and 20 minutes drive from Jungle Bay.
Dominica does not require a visa or any other document from Canadian, US, UK, German, and several other nationals. Only a valid passport and a return ticket is needed to travel to Dominica.
For more details visit: http://www.dominica.dm/index.php/entry-requirements
Roseau, the capital of Dominica, is only 20 minutes drive from Jungle Bay.
The ecotourism island of Dominica offers hot springs, waterfalls, volcano hikes, world – class underwater snorkel or dive adventures, and the most hospitable local people you have ever met!
Primary wall outlet type: Type G (UK) / Voltage: 220-240 volts AC @ 50 Hz.
Laptops, tablets / iPads, smartphones / iPhones, e-readers, digital cameras and other small electronics that run on batteries generally have chargers that are already compatible with 100-240 volts, and therefore usually only require a simple plug adapter.
WEATHER
The island’s annual temperature averages at around 27-30° Celsius / 80-86° Fahrenheit.
CURRENCY
The official currency of Dominica is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar, however the US dollar is equally accepted (1 US dollars = approx. 2.6 EC dollars). Credit Cards may be accepted in major town centres such as Portsmouth and Roseau but we recommend carrying Eastern Caribbean dollars or US dollars in small bills while traveling around the island. At Jungle Bay we accept all major credit cards and US or EC cash.
Complimentary Internet access is available for guests.
WHAT TO BRING
We recommend packing the following items in your carry-on luggage in the event your luggage is delayed: comfortable walking shoes and a change of clothing, swimsuit, any personal medications, contact lenses/solution (3 oz. max.), as well as toiletry. Remember the 3 oz. rule for carrying liquids and gels on commercial airplanes.
Please find a detailed packing list as follows:
• Comfortable hiking shorts or skorts (combination skirt/shorts)
• T-shirts
• Bathing suit
• Long sleeve UV protection shirt
• Comfortable hiking shoes with good grip (running shoes or trail hikers) & walking sandals or “amphibian” water shoes
• Light waterproof windbreaker / rain jacket may be useful if you tend to get cold easily
• Flip Flops, sandals or other comfortable shoes to walk on the property
• For the yoga classes we recommend comfortable form fitting clothing with a bit of stretch to it.
• Sun protection; sweatproof / waterproof sunscreen, cap & sunglasses
• Small travel backpack (can be used as your carry-on)
• Camera/phone (including charger and waterproof bag if you have one)
• Toiletries (remember that liquids are limited on planes/in carry-on baggage; check with your airline for the latest restrictions about this)
•Your personal medications, which might not be available on the island
We recommend sneakers or hiking shoes with good grips. Please note that a lot of hikes involve river crossings, therefore it is best to bring 2 pair of sneakers/hiking shoes (so that one pair can get wet) or to bring adventure hiking sandals or water shoes. Heavy duty leather hiking boots may be too hot and difficult to dry after frequent river crossings.
THE BOILING LAKE TOUR: IS IT FOR ME?
The Boiling Lake hike is indeed extremely challenging but also very rewarding. The drive to the trailhead is 50 minutes each way. The hike involves a difficult 3 to 3.5 hour trek over Dominica’s challenging mountain terrain to the 2nd largest boiling lake in the world, located within the eastern Caribbean’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site, followed by a 3 to 3.5 hour hike back. Along the way, you will encounter mountains, rainforests, streams, hot springs and the moon-like Valley of Desolation with bubbling therapeutic mud. Including the drive your Boiling Lake excursion will take approximately 10 hours. We recommend this tour for people in good to excellent physical condition with prior hiking experience
